                        1. BANYULS sur MER

                   We meet up in the town of Aristide Maillol to visit the picturesque

                   part of town where he used to work during his adolescence.

                   Some of his original works can be seen there.


                        2. COLLIOURE

                   In 1905 Matisse settled in this small harbour soon to be joined by

                   Derain, Dufy and many others."Fauvism" was born.

                   Ramble along the narrow streets and some unexpected detours.


                        3. COASTAL PATH

                   The walk along the seaside of the Vermillion Coast captures

                   the essence of the Mediterranean atmosphere: azure skies, blossoming hillsides, reddish

                   rocks and terraced vineyards. Here you can appreciate the tasting of local wines.


                        4. CERET

                   Walk under the century old plane trees and discover where Picasso, Braque, Soutine

and others planted their easels. Visit of "Musee d'Art Moderne".


5. CADAQUES

A full day dedicated to Salvador Dali: Cap de Creus, the

wonderful scenery reflected in his work, his surrealistic

house in Port Lligat and the streets of Cadaquès.


6. FIGUERES

Morning transfer to Dali's native town for the visit

of the exceptional "Teatre Museu Dali".

                                    Starting from Banyuls, a trail ascends to a border pass used by the Jewish philosoph trying to escape the Nazis by joining the town of Portbou.

Many British and American soldiers followed the same route during World War II in an attempt to reach Spain.

Path of the retreat


During the Winter of 1939, thousands of

Spanish and Catalan Republicans defeated by Franco crossed the Pyrenean border at Col d'Ares (altitude 1500m) to take refuge on the French side in the town of Prats de Mollo.

Our walk will retrace their steps from the Spanish side.
