A CROSS-BORDER REGION

The Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659) created a new French-Spanish border.

Until that time the northern boundaries of the Catalan nation were -and still remain- the Corbieres hills.

The Pyrenees never stood as a natural border, on the contrary, they provided refuge for locals and refugees during wars.

For centuries, the Pyrenean valleys also revealed a dynamic area for economic and cultural exchanges.

Today, Catalans fight

hard to keep their

traditions and culture

against French and

Spanish centralism.

MEETING POINTS

Most of our walking itineraries are not far from the main accesses, generally

1h to 1h30.

On the French side, apart from airports and train stations, we meet people

in Banyuls sur Mer (seaside), Ceret (inland), Villefranche de Conflent (mountain).

On the Spanish side, we organize transfers from airports or train stations

to the first accommodation of a tour. Mid-size towns like Figueres, Besalu, Palafrugell and Vic are also places for a convenient rendez-vous.

ENCHEMIN is not a travel company

but our contract guarantees reservation of all services

The only service we do not book is your journey to Catalonia
